There is a fascinating history to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling den gambling is prohibited. Eight casinos are anchored in a generally tiny area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent area, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal income gained from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a few limitations constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; still, funding sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 1700, and though visas are supposedly needed to pass, there are methods around this, as is accurate of most borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling hall, features one hundred and fifty slot machines and 60 gaming tables. The Naga river boat never closes with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are 150 slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred one armed bandits and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the familiar table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international resort and hotel complex that contains a number of comforts in addition to the gambling den, which contains 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and 88 tables.
